Exterior cladding:

Top tips

  • Choose a sufficient board thickness, min. 20 / 23 mm, ideally 28 mm.
  • Apart from joists, avoid extensions.
  • Form a drip at the bottom end of cladding.
  • Leave a ventilator slot of around 22...25 mm, open from top to bottom behind the cladding.
  • Choose the plinth height so that the bottom end of cladding finishes at a min. of 300 mm from the ground.
  • Remember the proper external sills and linings / casings.
  • Remember the appropriate guttering and down pipes.
  • Ensure an eave overhang of a min. of 300 mm, ideally 600 mm.
  • Carry out maintenance painting as required.
  • Only use exterior cladding which has been treated within 48 hours of planing to ensure that the surface treatment adheres to the wood.
  • We recommend repainting surface-painted boards after installation.
  • We recommend repainting prime-coated boards twice after installation.
